August Update

Beginning the first week of August we will begin our new fall schedule.  I trust that you will
thoroughly read the edition of the Salem News and familiarize yourself with the schedule and the opportunities it affords you and your family for spiritual growth.

The most significant change that you will find in our fall scheduling is that we will have Sunday Night Worship preceded by a family night dinner in the fellowship hall.  We have lined up some awesome ministries and speakers to challenge us in our walk with the Lord.  Dinner, by reservation only, will be served weekly in the fellowship hall allowing our church family to have some much needed “table time” for fellowship and relationship building.  In addition to the weekly catered menu I am going to prepare a “Pastor’s Pick” vegetable in my kitchen that will also be available in a addition to the posted menu.  Any special request? Let me know.

On Sunday morning August 7th I will begin a new sermon series from the letter of I Timothy
concerning the “Character and Conduct of a Christian”. The letter is primarily a practical one.  The emphasis is upon the kind of person the believer should be.  In this letter to Timothy Paul did not intend to offer profound theological conclusions but rather encouragement for Timothy and others to live out the Christian life that The Lord was “working in” them.  I Timothy provides us with a composite picture of a strong Christian life.  I encourage you to begin reading and familiarize yourself with the text.

If your family is not currently attending a Sunday Morning Small Group Bible Study Class
(aka – Sunday School) I would like to strongly encourage you to make the commitment to do so beginning the first week of August.  These classes not only will help you to study and apply the scripture into your life but will also help you to connect to others within our church who will truly become “family” to you in the good days, and the not so good days of life.  Adults, if you aren’t sure which class to attend feel free to contact Dan McKay, Gary Jarnagin, or me for suggestions.

To His Glory,
Pastor Rick
